Tokunaga named to DII All-Tourney state team

Kamehameha senior Mykala Tokunaga was named to the HHSAA Division II state softball all-tournament team at pitcher.

The right-handed ace threw a two-hitter in a 13-0 five-inning TKO over Aiea in the quarterfinals.

Tokunaga went the distances in a 9-7 loss to Pac5 in the semifinals, and a 5-2 loss to St. Francis for third place.

No other Warriors were selected, though several had strong three-game performances.

Senior catcher Kekai Wong Yuen batted 6 for 10 with an RBI and sophomore second baseman Taylor Sullivan went 5 for 9 with two RBIs, including a homer. Tokunaga was 3 for 7 with five RBIs.

Hawaii Storm basketball clinic June 18-19

Former Punahou girls basketball coach Mike Taylor will host the 2nd annual Hawaii Storm Basketball Clinic from June 18-19 at the Kamehameha’s Koaia Gym.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and is open to first through 12th graders. Registration is $75, and space is limited. Players will receive a Hawaii Storm T-shirt. Deadline is May 31.

14th Nobu Yamauchi memorial golf tourney

The Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, June 10 at the Hapuna Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $150.

The grand prize will be a Las Vegas vacation package, which includes air travel certificates and five days, four nights stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. This prize will be awarded to the low net team that finishes in 14th place. This is the 14th year of the Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization.

Deadline to enter is June 5. Entry forms are at the Hilo Municipal Golf course or by emailing Wayne Yamauchi at yamauchiw002@hawaii.rr.com.
